Summer Smoothie

December 23, 2017

Hey Inquisitive Writers! I am back. I have not been on the blogging platform for about 3 months! I have indeed missed the blogging community. I got really busy with my offline life and was not able to blog. But I am back! I will try to keep posting over the next couple of weeks.

Anyways, I have seen a lot of posts lately about the holidays and winter weather, and I wanted to bring a dash of summer into it, because frankly I miss it very much. So, I decided to pen a summer poem. I am not a huge fan of winter, who wants dry hands, cracked lips, and colds?

But this poem is a little different.

I have included some lyrics from popular songs that I like a lot into this poem, and I put which songs they are at the bottom ↓ Hope you enjoy it!

When I met you in the summer,

the sky turned blue

So baby pull me closer,

because there’s nothing holding me back

Can’t stop the feeling,

I want you to stay

By the poolside,

drinking a smoothie

Because we don’t care,

and we don’t even know why

Though our love is not perfect,

it comes and goes in waves

But we work so well,

and we don’t even know why

So stay, a minute

Don’t leave me honey,

you’re all I’ve got

and I’m all you’ve got, too

Line one: Summer, Calvin Harris

Line three: Closer, The Chainsmokers

Line four: There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back, Shawn Mendes

Line five: CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!, Justin Timberlake

Live six: Stay, Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko

Line ten: Why, Sabrina Carpenter

Line twelve: Waves, Mr. Probz

Line fourteen: Why, Sabrina Carpenter

Line fifteen: Stay, Alessia Cara and Zedd

This poem is about a summer romance, essentially, with a bit of a twist. I named it “Summer Smoothie” because a summer smoothie is a combo of a bunch of fruits and whatnot, and this poem is a combo of some song lyrics and some of my own poetry.

Have you ever had a summer romance? Are you wishing for winter to end? What’s your favorite season?

  1. I loved that you weaved different song lyrics together.
I would love a touch of winter here, in Cairo, it’s been a warm couple of days in December!
