Types of Blogs and How to Find Them

March 7, 2017

Hey Inquisitive writers! Today I will show you types of wordpress blogs. But why? Why would bloggers want to seek out others blogs? Blogging is not just posting. It’s interacting with other bloggers ,too! If you are a blogger, and don’t like to interact, you won’t get many readers. Plus, interacting more on other blogs can interest that blogger into your blog, and check it out (which means more viewers and followers) Additionally, you can read blogs you enjoy, and make blogger friends! Convinced now?

Most blogs I see on are in three categories: lifestyle, travel, and photography. I would think my blog would fall into the “lifestyle” category.

Tip: Try to stick to your topic. If you have a baking blog, post about baking recipes because that’s why people follow and view your blog. Unless you have an “everything blog” like me, try to write about your topic. You can find more tips like these on my Newbie Blogging Tips page. They’re not just for newbies, I use them everyday!

What is a tag? It is what you attach to a post. For example, #blogging is a tag.

You go to “Reader”, and then on the left sidebar, “Tags”. To follow a tag, press “Add”, type in your tag, and you’re good to go! You can follow specific tags you like, and visit them to see new posts from a variety of writers. By visiting, liking, and even commenting on their post causes interaction!

The tags are circled in red. This is my “Live your life!” post tags.

Classic Search

So WordPress put up a more recents feature ~ search. You can type in the search bar post titles or topics, so you can target more specific content than on the tag search.

Do you already follow tons of bloggers? Or liked and commented on other blogs? Well, your recommendations are based off of that. You can visit this page to see other bloggers that you may like based off of who you follow follows, which blogs you liked but didn’t follow, and other people who have similar interests. I made tons of bloggers friends through recommendations!

Meet-ups or Join-Ups

What I mean by this is the Community Pool (scroll down and you’ll find it) The Daily Posts posts this every Monday and bloggers comment down their site address, and reply to others’ comments. I met most of the bloggers who I follow here.

Tip: New to blogging? First Friday (scroll down and you’ll find it) would be great for you! It’s like a Community Pool, but for newbies like you! The Daily Post posts this every Friday. Everyone is so helpful and nice. I even go there sometimes to communicate with newbies!

I hope you find these tips helpful! You can use them to make new blogger friends, connect with them, and make yourself a better blogger.

  1. This is super helpful! I didn’t know about the tags i am so very new to blogging! Thanks for the tips will make sure i follow them for my next post!

  2. I really like how you pointed out blogging is more than just posting to a blog. It is indeed interacting and meeting new people and supporting others in addition to writing! <3 🙂

  3. Don’t forget book blogs! They’re pretty major on
I follow a lot of ‘Everything’ blogs because they are really engaging and cover a wide range of topics which is quite interesting. I love the Community Pool but stopped using it a while ago because I found it too hard to keep up with it! 🙂 it’s great for bloggers looking for more readers though! I think attending blog parties is a great way to connect as well! AWESOME post.
